COMPETITORS

As UberEATS is a service delivery service provided online, their online competitors include other delivery services. Their direct competitors include Foodpanda, Deliveroo and FeastBump.

These 3 companies partner with many different eateries and provide a delivery service, similar to UberEATS. However, their products differ slightly.

WIth UberEATS being an online food delivery service, the user interface is extremely important. Consumers want simplicity and relevancy in their search items. This thus can be considered as differentiating factor that will make or break the sale for the company.

UberEATS in this case has chosen to adopt a user-friendly interface - simply by keying in your address and a variety of food options that cater to your destination will appear - with a clean background with appealing visuals. This simplifies the consumer's user experience, as it does not have unnecessary clutter, such as menu options that do not deliver to their area. Furthermore, Uber users are not required to create new accounts as their details have already been registered with UberEATS.

USER INTERFACE.

Consumers in this segment have higher expectations and they often research before purchasing any product online. This means that companies have to think of more inventive ways to satisfy their consumers needs, in terms of providing them with what they want and enhancing their experience.

UberEATS, as compared to their competitors, is very new to the market for online food delivery. Currently, they have incorporated their "10 minute delivery" service, from 11am - 2pm on weekdays within certain regions in Singapore.

UberEATS also offers many promotions by releasing promo codes such as "#UberTANGYUAN" during the Chinese Lantern Festival.

INNOVATION.
RANGE OF OPTIONS.

It is crucial for online food delivery companies to have a wide selection of restaurants at varying price points in order to appeal to consumers. In Singapore, where consumers expect variety due to the local culture where food is readily available in very possible variation, it is necessary for food delivery companies to be able to offer the same sort of selection.

UberEATS in this case thus provides more selections of pricier and more exquisite food options to cater to those in the market for "high-end" food options.

CUSTOMER SERVICE.

In addition to the consumers' high expectations, customer service is extremely important in terms of retaining the customer due to the fact that consumers generally remember the negatives about a brand, rather than the positives. Good customer service in this case will be the last touchpoint with the business, UberEATS.

UberEATS compensates their customers with coupons should their orders arrive later than their stipulated time, via email.

DELIVERY FEES & TIME TAKEN.

With food being so readily available in Singapore, a high delivery fee or minimum charge can put consumers off from purchasing food from a particular website. Furthermore, the length of time taken for the food to arrive is a major factor in retaining the customer.

UberEATS charges a minimum flat fee of $3 per delivery, which is lower than Foodpanda's minimum fee of $3.50, Deliveroo's fee of $3 (orders above $25) & $8 (orders under $25), and FeastBump's minimum fee of $4. In term of delivery timings, UberEATS now offers 10 minute delivery services within certain regions, and with their accuracy in tracking the drivers, most orders arrive within the stipulated times, depending on which restaurant the consumer orders from.

PAYMENT OPTIONS.

The primary factor of why consumers in Singapore choose to order their food online although food is easily accessible is simply because it is convenient for them to do so. This also means that convenient payment options are expected of every delivery service.

Although it does depend on the restaurant a consumer purchases from, UberEATS does offer 2 primary modes of payment - Cash on delivery & Credit Cards. Both Foodpanda & UberEATS offer these modes of payment, while Deliveroo offers only credit payment. FeastBump offers credit and bank transfer.
